what is the job profile of metallurgical engineer in iron and steel industry?
Entire process of manufacturing of iron and steel plant is based on metallurgy. Metallurgy is the branch of study of extraction of metals from their ore. In the steel plant, metallurgical engineers deal with the process of manufacturing with quality and quantity also. In terms of quality one must maintain the chemistry of sinter, select the burden of charging, size of sinter, strength of sinter by different tests such tumbler index, reduction degradation index, B-2 ratio, operation of machines through PLC. In blast furnce operation lots of parameters need to be maintain such as maintain the burden according to the slag B-2, during hang process how to execute slip, maintain hot blast stoves temperatures, supply the BF gas to sinter and pellet plant, operation through PLC, inform sinter plant to maintain standard B-2. In pellet plant also to check the tumbler index, operate the entire process such as balling disc, filteration, rotary kiln. So these are some job profiles which metallurgical engineers does in the operation.
